And a traumatic time was had by all!
I had decided to try and get (seperate!) Holiday portraits of Sammy (the cat) and Rochelle (the turtle) the other day, using a super quick little setup in the window-sill and beautiful natural lighting. Bad idea!
Do you know how hard it is to get a turtle to keep a santa hat on their head? First off, Shelly kept pulling her head back into her shell and losing the hat. Then she decided to take her head and nudge the hat into a corner and stand on it.
While this fiasco was going on, Sam decided that he was having none of it and was not going to be ignored. So he climbed up into the photograph and nearly sat on Shelly.
At which point, I decided to be really adventurous and try to get the two of them to pose together . . . .
I did some super quick adjustments to my dumb little set-up, and then plopped Shelly on top of Sam to try and get a good shot of them interacting. Sammy sat there looking peeved as hell that I had antlers on his head, and Shelly kept knocking her hat off. After a few attempts at this, Sammy got wise and decided, well, doesn't that hat look tasty? Of course, Shelly was finally behaving herself and sitting nice with her hat on, so Sammy nearly ate her head.
At that point, I realized that this was pretty hopeless and was trying to squeeze one last pathetic shot out of it when....Rochelle took a dump on Sammy!
He sat up very straight and made this indignified face, and I lost it. Totally lost it.
We may try this again if I'm feeling brave, but for now this was the best shot . . . .Thank You/Gracias/Grazie/Merci/
