She asked me to please tell her story.

This is one of those images where the story gives far more meaning than the image alone. So let me take the time to tell it properly:

Firstly, I have no idea what this object is. My presumption is that it's some kind of vintage cider press/piece of harvesting equipment. I found it just about 50' off a county road not far from my home (which is located on the cusp of farm/vineyard country on Long Island). I originally thought it was an old, rusted tractor and decided to pull off the road and go photograph it. Low and behold it, it's not a tractor at all. I was kind of disappointed to find it was some strange boat-like contraption (and not a pretty tractor I could use in future shoots), but still it was an interesting find.

I also discovered that it's not "alone", either: this object is located in a forested patch that also houses the destroyed foundations and remains of at least two buildings. One foundation still remains about 1/4 intact, while the second plot is just remnants (window frames, door frames, mangled pipes, etc.) of what was probably once a small farm house. Additionally, the area is scattered with various, fairly-small pieces of rusted farm equipment (I happened upon and photographed what I think was some kind of old tilling equipment). (And for the record, when I say "old", I'm guessing between 1950s-1970s. That's about as "vintage" as we get here on LI.)

Anyhow, I am not a particularly...I'm not a crazily dramatic believer in the paranormal, but I do acknowledge that there is definitely the possibility of things in this world that are beyond our understanding or immediate comprehension. Do ghosts exist? Maybe, but I don't whisper to them. That being said....

As I wandered around the site- particularly the remnants of the two buildings- I was overwhelmed by a voice (in my head) that begged: Please tell them about me. Now I'm not deranged enough to think that that meant to run home and tell dA about some spirit who resides in the woods; but at the same time it was a strange sensation, almost peaceful but sad and pleading. The overall sensation was that it was important to not immediately forget this place.

I felt it was the perfect title for the photo and gave kind of an intriguing backstory to why I gave it this title. I don't know if I just came up with a really great title and spooked myself out, or if something beyond my own fertile imagination coaxed me toward it . . .

But she asked me to tell her story.

I'm not "dramatic" about it, but I do have a strong belief in the paranormal. Maybe just because I've experienced a lot of things similar to what you just described...

Thanks, hon. :glomp: Normally I'd say that it gave me goose bumps too, but it was a very peaceful feeling really.

Oh? Care to share?

I'm not dramatic about it either, and I find that when you mention things like this publically there's always one of two reactions: (1) People have had similar experiences and can relate; (2) They think you need to be carted off to an asylum. Oh yes, and then there's a subgroup of Choice A, where they tell you 200,000 experiences they and every one they've ever met have had. ;)
:iconjeannieblue:
Aww, well thank you! :glomp:
:iconmy-own-bane:
Well, I generally keep my experiences to myself...since I usually get the Choice B reaction. :giggle:

I've heard things, felt things, seen things. Mostly within my own home, which may or may not be the most disturbing part of the whole thing. Not to mention my own personal spiritual beliefs are considered "paranormal" in their own right, so the good little Christians like to consider me loony as is.
