Jeannie's (Kinda) Merry News & Notes:

I’m sitting here crying. What with everything going on in my world lately, who can really blame me for being overly emotional. But today I’m crying for a good reason: YOU! :smooch:

Whenever I log into my account, I am always met with such immense support and love from everyone that it really and truly warms my little heart. Whether I think I’ve posted something truly noteworthy or just a dumb little snapshot, the comments and :+favlove: I receive is always such an uplift on the darkest of days. I barely even check my personal e-mail accounts lately, as I feel like they’re always full of bad news or worse news. But for me, dA is always that ray of sunshine that can bring a smile in the midst of a hurricane.

THANK YOU, my friends! :huggle: For helping me to get through a very tough past few months.

(1) Daily Deviations. It was exciting to see more amazing artists receive Daily Deviation honors this week. I only had one successful suggestion, but it's not the quantity that counts, right?

featured by ^quietchildae

(2) “Let’s Play With Ketchup” is back, back, back. :boogie: I can't believe it has been nearly 9 months since I first had the idea for this feature and began with weekly posts. Nine months! "Ketchup" is officially my dA child! :giggle:

Week 4-6: [link] & [link] & [link]
Weeks 1-3: [link] & [link] & [link]

(3) Features of YOUR Work. Last year, I spent over a month whittling through a year's worth of features to select what I considered my personal favorite art of 2008. This year, I obviously did not have the time to do that again. Rather than simply do away with the feature this year, I decided to put a new twist on things: I asked all of you to tell me your favorite pieces of your own art from 2009. I used that information to create an end of 2009 feature: “The Best: 2009 Through Your Eyes”.
Check it out: [link]

Note: I realized last week after I posted the article that I was missing a few people's work. Slight oversight and I am most sorry. Here are your features:

The beautiful =shaynoggle -

The wonderful *jelefi -

(4) A Hint of A Lingering Suggestion. Two weeks ago we bid a fond adieu to this feature of my Daily Deviation suggestions. I’ve decided that my time is better spent tackling other projects right now. However, you can always view my latest suggestions @ [link]

(5) Features Of My Work. I’d like to thank all of the following deviants who I recently discovered have featured my work in their journals, news articles, etc. It means so very much to me! :faint:

:iconajhop: :iconwiebestavast: :iconfatherofanartist: :icondemonmathiel:
:iconice-beat: :iconmoijoie: :iconworldcollecter: :icongenesisofchaos:
:iconangievercetti: :iconojaacie: :iconjanmurphyphoto: :iconhanratty-stock:
:iconlorelei-coral: :iconhikait: :iconninjadeath: :iconmethylated-spirit: :iconann-nl:

(6) Please Practice Tolerance, Love, & Understanding This Holiday Season!!! I feel like every time I turn on the news, read a newspaper, or listen to the radio, all I hear about is the desecration of a church’s Christmas display; a store’s Holiday display; a menorah; Christmas tree; etc. This is appalling and disgusting!!! This morning on the radio, a lovely 'commercial' imploring Christians to remember the true importance of Christmas (vs the commercial hype) ended with a disclaimer stating that the sponsors hoped they had not "offended" anyone. *sighs sadly*

I believe in love and understanding and tolerance of other people’s beliefs. If someone wishes me a Happy Hanukah, I understand perfectly their intent in those words- and it’s nothing but love and peace and kindness. Why must we bicker and quarrel and show utter disrespect for one another’s beliefs? I know I have a tendency to say “Merry Christmas”- as this is the Holiday I will be celebrating this month- but I also know that when I say Merry Christmas, I mean only the very best and the utmost love. I would never bitch because a store had a menorah on display beside a Christmas tree (or instead of one); I would never be offended that someone said Happy Hanukah to me and not Merry Christmas; and I certainly would not raise a holy war to try and force my local stores to wish everyone a Merry Specific Holiday.

I ask you to please support LOVE this season.
That's what it should be about and not "us" versus "them".

(7) My Stock. I’ve been trying very hard to post the remainder of 2009’s stock material in my ~jeanniebluestock account, and bring it up to date for the start of 2010. If you are looking for Stock of my material, that’s where you can find it!

(8) *SanibelRoo’s Annual Holiday Pet Photo Contest is here! This contest is a really fun time and a great opportunity to torment the ones you love with silly costumes. :eager: (Of course & as always, please do so gently and kindly, and with only loving torture in mind.) Check out all the information @ [link]

(9) Holiday Art Feature. I've been perusing everyone's Holiday-themed art of late, and I decided to put together a quick little feature of all this wonderful art. There's the merry, the jolly, and the bizarre . . . [link]

(10) Back To The Future. Each week in this journal, I've taken it upon myself to toss out ONE piece of my art that's over one year old. A little self-promo, if you will, but in a subtle, tasteful manner. So, let's roll! :eager:

Week 22 - Christmas Tastes Like Crap

I'm going to end here and wish everyone a really wonderful, peaceful and loving Holiday. Spend it in good company and with a smile on your face! :huggle: :smooch:  I don't know if I'll be back next week or if I'll take a week or two off, but until the next time we meet again . . .

Candy Cane Kisses,

Jeannie

The birthday weekend has arrived! :eager:

Jeannie's News & Notes:

It's finally here! :la: The birthday celebration that sweeps the nation! Alas, the week leading up to the big day was a mess: my computer crapped out; my parents both continued to be sick (and go back and forth to 101 doctors); and despite my less than spirited-mood of late, all of the Holiday shopping still had to be done somehow. *sigh* I'm too pooped to party!

Week 21 - Serenity

On that final note, I'm going to wave adios to all. It's been another stressful week here in Casa de Jeannie, and I'm ready to curl up with a good book and forget that most of it happened. I do want to take a moment to thank you all though for your beautiful works that always make my day: without the peaceful moments I spend viewing everyone's art, I don't know how I'd get through some weeks!

Birthday Queen,

Jean

Jeannie's News & Notes:

What a week it has been, friends! *sigh* My mother has been unable to walk due to a raging infection in her right leg, and my father's doctors continue to probe and poke in an effort to develop a course of treatment for his cancer. More or less, that boils down to my house feeling like a triage unit for the past week. :(

That said, it was a busy week here at dA and I tried to keep up . . .

(1) Daily Deviations. Last week, I used my little Holiday weekend to catch-up on some very backlogged DD suggesting, and this week it paid off! :boogie:

(4) Jeannie Merch. The oversized 2010 nature calendars are now on sale for just $21.50. :woohoo: I have also seriously considered NOT putting together a mixed-bag calendar with portraits included, as I am just so happy with these calendars that I can't imagine 'topping' them. I'll make my official decision asap on that, but for now....The nature calendars kick ass! :headbang:

(8) A Hint of A Lingering Suggestion. This week we bid a fond adieu to this feature of my Daily Deviation suggestions. I’ve decided that my time is better spent tackling other projects right now. However, you can always view my latest suggestions @ [link]

(9) Wish-listing. A lot of people have been posting their Amazon.com Wishlists on dA, and/or creating a wish-listing to share with friends here. Quite a few of you have asked for my wishes . . . and they are simple: Please do not buy me anything! I don’t have the money to return the favor- I am poor! :crying: - and I also don’t feel it’s right to ask for gifts from other starving artists who, let’s face it, are virtual strangers. If you’d really like to do something for me for my birthday and/or Christmas, then please be creative and don’t spend a dime! Poems and/or written works inspired by my photography; deviations inspired by and/or dedicated to me; etc. I really don’t expect anything from anyone and I think it’s sweet that I was even asked for a wish-list.

(10) Back To The Future. Each week in this journal, I've taken it upon myself to toss out ONE piece of my art that's over one year old. A little self-promo, if you will, but in a subtle, tasteful manner. So, let's roll! :eager:

Week 20 - An LI Legend

I'm going to wrap everything up with a nice big bow now and wish you all a great week. Thursday is my birthday so I will be partying, partying, partying and acting like a Queen! :giggle:

Jeannie's News & Notes:

I signed off last week’s journal entry and I just didn’t feel like I had fully expressed everything I wanted to say in regards to the Daily Deviation. That is that I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported my artwork since Day #1, and to all those who have just come on board. I am responding to ALL of your comments one by one, so that I can give you a personal reply and not just some pasted generic remark. Please have patience with me.

With Thanksgiving shortly upon us Americans, I think it’s an even more perfect moment to emphasize how much I really, truly say thank you. From the bottom of my little heart. I came to dA five years ago with nothing to share, photographically speaking. As I became inspired, I started taking shitty little 1.5 megapixel self-portraits. I never imagined that I’d be sitting here 5 years later, or that I would be creating work that I could actually be proud of. For everyone who took the time to comment or :+fav: on anything; for those that shared advice or answered my questions; for those that hounded me to believe in myself . . . .

 THANK YOU! :smooch:

(1) Contest. I feel like I am always apologizing and, honestly and sincerely, I am most sorry that I have yet to post the results. I will definitely do this just as soon as I can find a chance to sit down and write up the article. Thank you for your patience, everyone! :huggle:

(2) “Let’s Play With Ketchup” is the longest-running episodic show not on TV! Or, umm, well, maybe it's a feature of your art? And it's been going for EIGHT months now!!! :faint: Can you even believe it?

Week 18 - Let It Snow

Not my best shot ever, but a cute little something to ring in the official Holiday season with.

As I won't be posting a new journal until late Friday or early next Saturday, I want to say HAPPY TURKEY DAY to all my American friends. :huggle:  Love to you and your families, may you spend a nice (and fattening!) day together. To my non-American friends, I still hope you have a wonderfully special day on Thursday.
