Busy, busy bumble Jean!



(1) In case you've been asleep during class, let me repeat: I will have a framed and matted print of "World of Broken Glass" up for "bid" in the upcoming Beta Sigma Phi Chinese Auction and Fashion Show at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook, NY on April 9th. This is an annual charity event that raises money to support Hope House Ministries, run by an amazing soul who defies all words, Father Frank Pizzarelli. If you are in Suffolk County, NY and interested in attending, please e-mail me for further details. It's a fun evening and all the money raised goes to a great cause!


(2) I’m getting a little fed up lately with dA relocating deviations of mine; I’ve had at least three moved in the past few weeks. If I list something in a particular category, that’s because (duh!) that’s where it belongs and where I want it. Anyone else having this problem?

(3) Also in a similar note, I recently had some print work done from dA and was less than thrilled with the new cardstock being used for postcards. Does anyone have any advice on other sites that offer printing work with comparable quality and better prices? Especially websites that allow you to upload images and then handle the printing and the transaction for a small fee.

(4) Just got back from a quick trip to Jersey to visit a friend. We went to see Bleeding Through and The Acacia Strain at the Blender Theatre in NYC on Saturday night, and I just have to say that I was sadly not thrilled with the gig. Bleeding Through’s set was solid, but somehow it just fell flat of inspiring for me. Meanwhile, The Acacia Strain was simply beyond horrific: the lead singer kept urging the crowd to kill themselves because “it’s not worth it”. Umm, yeah. Of course, his between song banter was about the only thing I could understand; everything else was just animal noises. I will say, on a positive note, that I found the Staff at the Blender Theatre- and the venue itself- to be superb. It’s very rare that I visit a club in NYC for a gig like this and leave thinking about how I would happily return for another show, so hats off to the Blender Crew!

(5) For anyone that I unintentionally may have offended or upset with my “weenies” comment last week, I am VERY sorry. It was meant to be a tease- a chiding remark- and I guess on paper it fell flat somehow. So for ANYONE that ever takes even a split-second out of their day to look at anything that I have written or created, THANK YOU! I in no way think any less of you if you have a life and cannot commit to reply to my polls, questions, blogs, etc. In fact, for those that are forced- like myself- to continually fave pieces and then run without commenting: your time means so much to me! Thank you! I don’t count favorites versus comments versus anything: I appreciate it ALL!

(6) I am back to booking new shoots actively, so if you have been holding off for nicer weather or because I have asked everyone to slow down the requests: bring it on! I will be shooting actively throughout the spring and summer, and have a lengthy list of new ideas to shoot. So please feel free to contact me whenever you like.

(7) A little note on my MySpace and Facebook pages: I am seriously considering changing my Facebook to a “Friends Only” page, and using my MySpace as more of a promotional-type deal. I haven’t made a 100% decision yet, but I am seriously leaning in that direction. So here’s your heads-up my fellow dA kids: if you have me as a friend on Facebook but have yet to say hello: please do that soon or just add me on MySpace and continue the lurking. I am just finding that I would really like to have one account where I can login and not have to sift through 1,0001 advertisements to be able to find the silly comments and requests from my legit friends and acquaintances.




I think that should be all for this week, folks. One of my life-long friends is in-town from California, so I’ve been enjoying good company and getting out a little extra this week. It has definitely refreshed and invigorated me, and I am ecstatic to move forward into spring with positive new energy!
