Jeannie's News & Notes:


Ah, so I am back this week with excellent news: I am among the living once again! It turns out that I was deathly ill last week as I was allergic to the medication that the doctor gave me to help overcome the previous week’s illness. Go figure, right? Anyhow, it’s all resolved and I can sit up in a chair again without wanting to cry. Always a nice thing.


Meanwhile, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the dads out there! I hope you are spending your days being pampered by those that love you most.





(1) Deviation of the Day. I slacked off due to illness, and you were desperately lost and felt like your day was totally missing something when you didn’t get a DOTD in your in-box, right?


(2) HOLY SCHNIKES, CATWOMAN! I just discovered yesterday that I was featured in the “Daily Dozen” during the second week of May on the National Geographic website. This means that my image has a potential of being published in an upcoming issue in their monthly “Your Shot” feature. It has been my dream to get into the pages of National Geographic since before I picked up a camera, so this is very exciting for me. (3) “Let’s Play With Ketchup” is merely a product of my bizarre sense-of-humor. As I am painfully behind on features and have a list of deviations that is running (currently) six months behind, I am going to use this as a means of “catching-up”. Can you believe it's been 10 weeks already?

(4) Daily Deviation nominations. I took a poll, as I was curious to know if people would wish to know when they had been nominated or if they would rather go on in ignorance until that nomination came (hopefully) to fruition. It seems that nearly everyone would like to know even if they were simply nominated and nothing ever came of it. So…I have started a new folder in my Favorites for works that I have personally nominated for DDs. I’ve never succeeded in getting someone a DD, but here’s hoping that will change very soon! And to all the Admins that I have been pestering with my now weekly suggestions: thank you for your patience. Lastly, to those that are undoubtedly going to view this folder and complain…..

(5) Models. With universities and whatnot letting out for vacations in the U.S. and beyond, many people will be traveling this summer. I have noticed quite a few of the models that I watch on dA posting about upcoming trips. That said, if you will be in or around New York (NYC and Long Island) and wish to work together, please drop me a note with as much advance notice as possible. Please also be aware that I am currently shooting mostly only fine art nudes for TFCD, everything else is at a fee. Of course, never be afraid to ask- you never know what I might say! And please: don’t e-mail me to tell me I can fly you to NY this summer. Seriously. People have done it and it’s just….dumb. Don’t do it!


(6) Contest. I didn’t forget about it! I believe I have found two other judges, and have a rough idea of what the “theme” will be. Once I post information, the Contest will be open to ALL types of art. Right now, I’d like to ask if there is anyone willing to donate prizes that you please Note me. Prizes do not necessarily have to be subscriptions, but can include signing on the feature the winner; offering a Print from your gallery to the winner; etc. Be creative!
